It was not until June, 1953, a well meaning, far-sighted maverick
group of "specialty writing" New Jersey Insurance Brokers formed the New
Jersey Surplus Lines Association. These 12 originators were not afraid
to separate themselves from the more traditional, standard element in the
industry and branch out into the more unique and specialized world of
"Excess and Surplus Lines." The Surplus Lines Association of New Jersey, Inc. was formed and incorporated in the State of New Jersey as a nonprofit corporation for the following: Our Purpose - "The NJSLA is dedicated to promoting the interests of agents, organizations, and individuals that support the Surplus Lines Industry and distribution system. Our Business - The Association will conduct educational, regulatory, legislative, and promotional activities in a spirit of cooperation and goodwill. Our Values - Good faith, while maintaining and encouraging the highest professional standards on behalf of the membership.
Welcome. If you're not
already a member of the NJSLA, we invite you to join. If you are already a
member, we ask that you become more actively involved. A growing and
thriving association is to the benefit of all of us. Together, we can
foster good relations, promote high standards and maintain professional
excellence. Look for our events in the weeks and months ahead. They're all
about sharing knowledge, exchanging best practices, networking with peers
-and maybe even having a little fun.
